Savannah, Georgia is renowned for its rich history, charming streets, and delicious Southern cuisine. During our recent visit, we stumbled upon The Public Kitchen & Bar and were immediately drawn to its cozy ambiance and mouth-watering menu. Located in the heart of Savannah’s historic district, this restaurant has quickly become a local favorite. In this blog post, we’ll share our experience dining at The Public Kitchen & Bar and why we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
The Public Kitchen & Bar Savannah: A Local Favorite
From the moment we stepped inside The Public Kitchen & Bar, we were welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is housed in a historic building and features exposed brick walls, elegant chandeliers, and cozy booths. The staff was friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home.
The Menu: A Delight for the Senses
The menu at The Public Kitchen & Bar is a true delight for the senses. With a focus on fresh, local ingredients, the dishes are both creative and delicious. On our first visit, we tried Danny’s Burger, which came with lettuce, onion, tomato, ketchup, and mustard. The burger was juicy and cooked to perfection, served on a brioche roll that was light and fluffy.
We also ordered the Savannah Shrimp & Grits, a local favorite. The dish was a delicious combination of cheddar-bacon grits, local shrimp, sweet peas, chorizo, tomatoes, and sherry cream. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the dish was hearty and comforting.
Another standout dish was the Tomato & Goat Cheese Dip. The dip consisted of a robust tomato sauce topped with brûléed goat cheese, served with toasted baguette rounds. The goat cheese was creamy and tangy, perfectly complementing the sweetness of the tomato sauce.
On our last day in Savannah, we decided to visit The Public Kitchen & Bar again. This time we tried the Pasta Carbonara, which was sautéed bacon lardon, red pepper flakes, sliced mushrooms, sweet green peas, red onion, and a light parmesan cream sauce. The dish was rich and flavorful, and the pasta was perfectly cooked.
On our second visit, we decided to indulge in some dessert and tried the Blueberry Mint Crème Brûlée. It was the perfect ending to our meal. The creamy custard was infused with a subtle hint of mint, and the fresh blueberries added a burst of flavor. The crunchy caramelized sugar on top provided a satisfying contrast in texture.
